Matthew Barnes | Director of Operations
Matthew Barnes holds a Master's degree in Violin Performance from Florida Atlantic University, where he also served as Co-Concertmaster of the FAU Symphony Orchestra. He has been playing violin since the age of three, and the instrument has remained a central part of his life ever since.
Matthew has performed first violin for numerous weddings and church engagements throughout South Florida, bringing musical sensitivity to every setting. His performing experience spans a wide range of repertoire, though he is particularly drawn to the late Romantic and early contemporary era — finding the Sibelius and Barber violin concertos among the most compelling works in the canon for their melodic richness and the fascinating transition they represent from classical tradition into the modern voice.
Beyond the stage, Matthew genuinely enjoys helping new players find their footing. He regularly assists beginners with technical questions about equipment and getting started, and takes pride in making the early stages of learning feel approachable and encouraging rather than overwhelming.
The violin has always been a very important part of my life since I was three. I hope to help others find their passion and voice as well.
Matthew is a natural fit at Barnesviolins — his combination of advanced training, performing experience, and genuine enthusiasm for helping new players makes him a trusted resource for students and families at every level.
